Civilian Fireground Rescue Research Project Weekly Report 2/21/21On Saturday 2/20/21 we collected the 500th fireground civilian rescue by firefighters from U.S. news reports or fire department press releases for the year. This continues to demonstrate an average of 10 civilians rescued from residential fires through the direct actions of firefighters everyday. 148 of these rescues have been submitted to the Firefighter Rescue Survey with 71% reporting civilian survival. When this 71% survival rate is applied to the full 505 documented rescues, an estimated 359 civilian lives have been saved from working residential fires already in 2021. Please access and share downloadable documents included in this post with your department or union leadership. Our mission (saving lives) must match our metrics (lives saved).
